Legendary Wine Evening, Simola, 30th July

For the first time in South Africa, the country's top golfers' winemakers gathered at Simola Hotel on Friday evening and joined forces with Executive Chef Delia Clarke, to present a world class wine and gourmet experience to an audience of local businessmen, media and wine connoisseurs.

Organiser, Ingrid Diesel, previously CEO of Fancourt and now heading up her own Consulting and Events company, brought together the wines from Gary Player, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and David Frost in a stunning event which saw the patrons experiencing personal stories and anecdotes from the country's top winemakers. The golfers' wines were paired with a 6 course gourmet experience dreamed up by one of South Africa's leading chefs, Delia Clarke.

MC for the evening, legendary cricketer, Barry Richards spoke about the way that sport and branding has changed over the years, resulting in various ventures by sportsmen to create massive branding opportunities.

Compleat Golfer, South Africa's leading golf publication, was represented by Editor Brendan Barratt at the evening and they will join forces with Ingrid Diesel Consulting to re-create and promote this concept around the country at various venues.

To round off the evening, an auction was held, in which the proceeds were donated to the Knysna Education Trust, which provides assistance to 27 schools in the greater Knysna area. 4 bottles of premium wine signed by the respective golfers was sold for R6000 and a founder membership to the Gary Player Founder Member Wine Club sold for R22000.
